OUR VISION

Daniel R. Long, Jr., "Danny", was born and raised in Person County and has always taken pride in being described as a country lawyer.  Small-town America is not what it used to be and for many reasons, it is a good thing.  The Internet allows us to connect with family and friends around the country through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other desktop and mobile applications. Chain stores and restaurants, multiplex cinemas and other entertainment and intellectual opportunities exist even into remote locales; it is nothing short of remarkable. Danny combines the past and present while striving to pursue a legal practice that displays ideal hallmarks of rural or small-town business like hard work, commitment to family and friends in the community, local traditions and pride in his work. He earned his B.S.B.A. from East Carolina University in one semester less than the norm of four years and graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina Central School of Law in one semester less than the norm of three years. Danny took the bar in February, 1985 and passed, perhaps the youngest attorney in North Carolina at the age of 24! Now, more than 38 plus years later, you benefit from his tremendous experience. When not in the office, you can find him hiking or cycling on nearby trails and roads.

Ursula P. Long, a partner in the firm, moved to North Carolina from the Midwest more than 35 years ago.  A chance encounter with Danny during a planned "brief" visit to North Carolina in 1986 led to a lifetime stay. She is a graduate of Elon University where she received both her B.S.B.A. and M.B.A.; it was during that time that Dr. Robert Baxter, Jr. taught her Business Law and recognized her keen interest in law.  Then married to Danny, she naturally integrated her classroom discussions with his real-time legal experience.  Danny encouraged her to follow her passion and she hasn't looked back. While parenting 3 young children  (including twins) under 5 years of age, she began her journey in 1995 at North Carolina Central University School of Law, graduating and successfully passing the bar in 1998. A fourth child, born in 2000, completed the family. Traffic and real estate law provided Ursula the flexible schedule she desired during the busy aforementioned years.  However, she has remained a fixture in multiple courts through the years including Incompetency Hearings, Juvenile Justice, Child Support and Abuse, Neglect and Dependency.  When not in the office, you can find her hiking on a nearby trail.

Like many other traditional brick-and-mortar businesses, we struggle with the advent of online shopping and other marketing tools such as direct mail.  The legal world is no different and our firm now offers the ability to "sign up" for our traffic services online, simply message us below. However, if you prefer a face to face, personal and uniquely small-town experience that further allows you to be confident in our work and your future, call us at 336-330-0627 to schedule a free consultation.   It’s all thanks to the support and feedback from clients like you that keep us in business and serving the local communities where we live, work and play.
